On Sunday, rocket sirens were sounded in central Israel, including in Tel Aviv, and this was the first time that the city has been attacked. According to Hamas, the enemies of Palestine will pay a heavy price after the group ordered the firing of rockets from Gaza to Israel. Although the frequency of projectile attacks has been an incidental part of everyday life in communities surrounding Gaza for the past seven months of unrest, this particular assault has produced a change in the range of rocket capacity. Despite this, there were no reported human losses or destruction of property due to the rocket attacks.

Earlier in the day, lorries delivering humanitarian aid entered Gaza through the border with southern Israel in line with a new deal that does not include using the Rafah crossing connecting Gaza with Egypt. This arrangement comes in the aftermath of the recent Israeli takeover of the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing. Nevertheless, continuing hostilities in the mentioned region have left questions regarding humanitarian organizations’ ability to arrive at the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

Egypt has failed to open its part of Rafah crossing to operate as a border post despite the reopening operations of the other side in the Gaza Strip, demanding that control of the Gaza side of the crossing must be handed to Palestinians. All again was to assist in moving the traffic through the Kerem Shalom crossing, which is Gaza’s main cargo crossing, after U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with the Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.

However, the crossing has been almost closed for most people due to hostilities close to the nearby city of Rafah. Though Israel said it has been sending in hundreds of trucks to Gaza, U.N. agencies have pointed out that it is sometimes too dangerous to pick up the aid on the side of the Palestinians.
