Jerusalem: The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations (UN) on Tuesday demanded that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres immediately resign for showing understanding to the mass murder of children, women, and the elderly people of Israel.
“The UN Secretary General is disconnected from reality and must resign!! Today I stood at the entrance to the Security Council together with the families of abductees and called on the Secreatry General to resign. A secretary General who seeks justification for the terrible massacre committed in us cannot remain in his position”, wrote Ambassador Gilad Erdan on X.
Meanwhile, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) to the United Nations Ambassador R Ravindra on Wednesday reiterated New Delhi’s efforts to send humanitarian assistance to civilians in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, saying that while they have sent 38 tons of food and critical medical equipment, they will continue to do so.
Speaking at the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Ambassador said, “We continue to support the Palestinian people through our bilateral development partnership, which covers a wide range of sectors including health, education, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship and information technology…In these challenging times, India will continue to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.”
Earlier on Sunday, India sent a military heavy-lift aircraft with around 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief material for Palestinians.
