Forensic reports, released on Friday, claim that Hamas terrorists killed the Bibas brothers—Kfir and Ariel—with their bare hands, as Israel made a shocking revelation. Days after being taken hostage in Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said the children had been murdered in cold blood.
IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Hamas then covered up the brutal act as the group killed the two young boys without using firearms. “The Bibas brothers were killed in cold blood by terrorists: Ariel and Kfir Bibas. They hadn’t shot them; they killed them with their bare hands. Then, they carried out horrible acts to cover up these invasions,” added Hagari in a press statement.
Hamas deliberately deceived the families of the victims, as well as the public, with regard to the fate of the Bibas family, the IDF continued to claim. Among the remains returned by Hamas in recent days in an effort to make a larger prisoner and hostage swap were those of two children. Hamas has been slammed as being an act of extreme brutality by Israeli officials who have condemned the revelation as sparking global outrage.
On the other hand, Israeli authorities are now working to obtain more diligent international action on Hamas for accountability of crimes against civilians. Families of the victims and residents of Israel have expressed their grief and anger and demanded justice.
The incident brings the total of such allegations against Hamas over the Jordan hostage-taking on 7 October. Despite the diplomatic pressure for the release of remaining hostages and a resolution to the war, the international community watches the situation closely.
