The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Friday said that an airdrop of aid into the Gaza Strip was successfully accomplished with the help of six countries, as reported. The exercise entailed the flight of 126 packages of food supplies to drop to residents in both the southern and northern Gaza with the aim of enabling the residents to be in a situation to meet their immediate humanitarian needs in the continued conflict.

The mission is also special because it was the first ever joint airdrop among the three European countries. The assembled nations were the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Spain, France, and Germany, as it was somewhat of a rare case of global organization in assisting in the suffering, emotionally devastated area due to the war. The most recent operation was a replica of another humanitarian airdrop operation conducted on July 27, as Jordan and the UAE dropped 25 tons of supplies to Gaza, which was the first such supply to be carried out after months of paralysis.

As it continues to get worldwide outrage against the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, stated unequivocally that there are no allegations of starvation by Israeli troops. Zamir added that the allegations are composed of a biased, coordinated, and propaganda campaign to allege war crimes against the IDF. He stressed that Hamas is fully responsible for the population of civilians in Gaza who are afflicted by the conflict, and he included that the Israeli military acts with morality and integrity in accordance with international law and the ethical code of the IDF.

Zamir also said about the current hostage negotiations, a military operation would go on as before, despite what would be done on partial agreement. He stated that the upcoming days would play a significant role in whether or not any type of agreement could be reached; otherwise, full operation would be ongoing by the Israelis.

According to this airdrop, this move demonstrates increasing international participation in humanitarian aid operations as well as the ongoing tensions between Israel, Hamas, and critics of the world to deal with the Gaza conflict.
