Coronavirus has once again knocked on the world’s door. New cases of coronavirus have created panic in Asia from Hong Kong to Singapore. Due to this, music concerts have been cancelled in Hong Kong and a high alert has been issued in Singapore. Experts are seeing this as a new wave of coronavirus in Asia.
Corona cases and deaths in Hong Kong have reached their highest level in a year. 31 new cases have been reported in the week ending May 3. At the same time, the increase in serious cases has also reached its highest level in a year.
“Virus activity has reached a massive level. The percentage of positive cases has hit a one-year high,” said Albert Ou, head of the communicable disease branch at the Centre for Health Protection.
Coronavirus cases are also increasing in China. According to China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the rate of coronavirus infection among patients admitted to hospitals has more than doubled in the 5 weeks before May 4. At the same time, Thailand’s disease control department has also reported an increase in coronavirus cases. Corona cases have increased here after the Sograkan festival.
What is the situation in India?
If we talk about India, except for sporadic cases, its effect has not been seen here yet. Here, no statement has been issued by the Health Ministry regarding this. Overall, there is no need for Indians to worry at the moment.
In February this year, a new variant of coronavirus emerged in China, which was named HKU5-CoV-2. Like the corona virus, it uses cell-surface proteins to enter the human body and can spread the epidemic.
In March, a 45-year-old woman in Kolkata was infected with the human coronavirus or HKU1. This virus mainly affects the lungs and respiratory system.
