The intelligence agencies of United States are believed to have overheard an encrypted message that it is an operational trigger which is believed to have been sent by Iran that may trigger sleeper agents who are in operation in other countries. A report by a news agency reported that the message was allegedly picked up following the death of Ali Khamenei on February 28 by citing a federal alert disseminated among law enforcement agencies.
This is made in the context of the escalating military conflict between Iran, United States, and Israel. Week after week, the US and Israeli troops have been conducting intensive airstrikes on Iranian targets and Iran has responded with attacks on Israel and strategic targets in the Gulf states. Concurrently, Israel too has launched attacks on the Iran-supported militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon which has kept throwing rockets into Israeli soil.
As per the intercepted message, there was a possible signal that might have been sent by Iran and it could be used as a call to the covert agent/operatives outside the state. The coded message was said to be programmed with instructions that were to be received by secret users who had unique encryption keys that could decode and use the information without use of the mainstream internet and mobile communication networks.
Intelligence leaders alerted the US to the fact that these communications are usually meant to send messages to already placed agents in foreign countries. Reportedly, authorities identified a station broadcasting the encrypted message repeatedly in various regions not only in Iran but also in other regions.
Although the specific message behind the transmissions is yet to be fully deciphered, according to the authorities, the advent of a new world wide broadcast signal has led to concerns and has increased the scrutiny of the security and intelligence agencies.
