In a dramatic rescue operation, the Indian Coast Guard successfully saved 12 crew members of a merchant vessel that sank in the treacherous waters of the North Arabian Sea. The ill-fated vessel, en route from Porbandar in Gujarat to Bandar Abbas port in Iran, succumbed to the harsh conditions on Wednesday.
The Indian Coast Guard, in collaboration with the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), swiftly mobilized its resources to launch a search and rescue mission. The operation was carried out within Pakistan’s search and rescue region, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in such critical situations.
The 12 crew members, having abandoned their sinking ship, sought refuge in a small dinghy. The Indian Coast Guard’s ship, Sarthak, along with a PMSA aircraft and the merchant vessel MV Cosco Glory, joined forces to locate and rescue the stranded sailors. The crew members were found approximately 270 kilometers west of Dwarka and were brought to safety.
This remarkable rescue operation underscores the dedication and professionalism of the Indian Coast Guard and the PMSA. Their swift response and coordinated efforts saved the lives of 12 individuals who were facing imminent danger. The successful outcome of this mission is a testament to the strength of international cooperation and the unwavering commitment to safeguarding human life at sea.
