California: In a tragic incident on February 13, 2024, a Kerala-origin family of four was discovered dead inside their San Mateo, California home. The victims were identified as Anand Sujith Henry (42), his wife Alice Priyanka (40), and their twin children Noah and Neithan (4).
San Mateo police reported that two family members succumbed to gunshot wounds, while the cause of death for the other two is under investigation. The case is being probed as a possible murder-suicide, though alternative scenarios haven’t been ruled out.
Initially, relatives suspected carbon monoxide poisoning due to the family’s previous complaints of headaches and nausea. However, police found no evidence of gas leakage or faulty appliances.
Both IT professionals, Anand and Alice had resided in the US for nine years, relocating from New Jersey to San Mateo County two years ago. Well-regarded by neighbors and colleagues, they were described as friendly, diligent, and devoted parents.
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco is supporting the family in India, extending condolences to the bereaved family and the Indian American community.
The motive remains unclear, awaiting autopsy and forensic results. The police seek public cooperation and information. This incident adds to a series of unfortunate events involving Indian students in the US, including the recent deaths of Purdue University students Sameer Kamath and Neel Acharya.
Neel Acharya, a computer science and data science student, was found dead on campus last month after being missing for several days. The police emphasize the need for public assistance to solve this case, shedding light on the alarming trend of tragic incidents involving Indian students in the United States.
