Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, has expressed concerns about his safety while incarcerated. He believes there may be a threat to his life through a method he called ” poisoning.” Khan shared these apprehensions via a message from his account. As the leader of Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI), he expressed his worry that powerful forces within the country might attempt to harm him while he remains in custody.
Although Khan stated that he is currently in good condition and would notice any changes indicating weakness or illness, he mentioned that two previous attempts on his life had been made publicly. Interestingly, this statement coincided with a court’s decision to reject his bail petitions and a request to dismiss the FIR related to the Cipher case. It should be noted that Khan’s arrest in August was connected to his disclosure of a cable (cipher) from Pakistan’s embassy in Washington in March of the previous year.
He argued that the charges against him have no foundation and are driven by motives fabricated to keep him in prison until after the elections or even for a period. Khan alleged that Nawaz Sharif, the leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N), played a role in scheming to implement an agreement in London that would grant Sharif, who has been convicted of a crime, privileges.
Imran Khan further emphasized that the ongoing events in Pakistan represent a collapse of the justice system and result from a conspiracy to protect certain individuals. He urged his supporters to continue their struggle for their rights and the freedom of their country, with a plan to hold conventions nationwide and prepare for upcoming elections.
This recent statement from Khan echoes his previous claims of assassination attempts and his ongoing criticism of political opponents. It also highlights the complex political landscape and power struggles in Pakistan.
