An Arab and an Islamic block has seriously put a warning to Iran, demanding it to stop its missile and drone attacks in the Gulf region at once as tension is mounting. This was after a high-level meeting between foreign ministers of various nations, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Turkey, at the high-level meeting in Riyadh on March 18.

The concerned countries vehemently condemned what they termed as premeditated attacks on major infrastructure and civilian targets in Gulf countries. They cautioned that further intensification would have a devastating impact on the security, sovereignty and stability of the region. The assertion also brought to the fore that the global supply chains have been disrupted by attacks on key energy centers, which has contributed to the increasing maritime instability and an additional energy crisis.

The conflicts have been aggravated by the eruption of the war between Iran, the United States, and Israel. Iran has also been reported to attack military bases, airports and important energy centers in the region in retaliation to previous strikes. Among the most notable events is an assault on the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, which is an important export of liquid natural gas in the world.

Iran also has sent threats that major energy facilities in nations like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE might be viewed as valid targets, and there will be additional escalation. This has been aggravated by the challenges in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a crucial oil and gas delivery route in the world.

Leaders of the region have urged restraint and diplomacy to avert more instability and secure energy security in the world.
