Moscow: Russian ground forces barged in through several directions, Ukraine’s military reported hours after Kremlin launched an attack through the eastern region of the country.

As shelling escalated, 40 civilians have been reported to have been killed so far in the attacks by Russian troops. The Ukrainian army also claimed to have shot down the 7th Russian plane over Luhansk

President Zelensky amidst the war took to Twitter announcing the dissolution of all ties with Russia. He appealed to Russians to stage protests against Moscow’s decision to send troops into Ukraine. “For all those who have not yet lost their conscience in Russia, it is time to go out and protest against the war with Ukraine,” the Ukrainian President wrote on Twitter. He further added that the Kyiv govt would provide weapons to all Ukrainian citizens who wanted to defend their country. He further went on to compare Russia’s military actions to that of Nazi Germany during World War II.

Russian tanks and other heavy equipment crossed the frontier in several northern regions, as well as from the Kremlin-annexed peninsula of Crimea in the south, the agency said.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the attack saying Putin is jeopardizing peace in Europe. Despite intense efforts to deter the invasion, Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine on Thursday.
