New York– Indian PM Narendra Modi, in his first foreign journey of his third term, reached Italy this morning to join the outreach session of the 50th Group of Seven (G7) summit. When he landed, he stated his expectations of having “meaningful dialogues with other world leaders. ” Modi is, in the meantime, having bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron while set to have a meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

Namely, the session within the G7 summit will be dedicated to urgent topics such as artificial intelligence, energy, and the situation in Africa and the Mediterranean. This constitutes one of Modi’s foreign forays – a crucial step in achieving India’s global interaction and formation of alliances and contributing to resolving various global issues.

Pope Francis’s decision to chair the G7 meetings for the first time is a striking fact of this year’s summit. The President of Guinea has an appalling record, but other international leaders who should not be the sort of livestock the Pope wants to be associated with include 10 other heads of state and government, including the King of Jordan. This inclusion is a measure intended to make a point that G7 is not a closed-door organization of the world’s selfish leaders but a world leaders’ discussion platform. Italian PM Giorgia Meloni said she is ‘dawn proud’ for hosting Pope Francis and noted that ‘it is the first time for a Pope at G7. ’

At the summit, the Pope will deliver a speech on AI together with bilateral meetings with heads of state and governments, including the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan. This goes to establish that the manner of participation expected demands that the collaboration will be diverse and critical.

European Council President Charles Michel highlighted that the summit would focus on four major challenges: money for Ukraine the wars in the Middle East.
