Tokyo: Japan Parliament on Monday approved Fumio Kishida as the next Prime Minister of the country. The new leader is yet scheduled to calibrate his Council with fresh faces and holdovers. As per the information given by the local media, Kishida would retain several ministers in his key portfolios.
Speculation hint retention of Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and Defence Minister Nobuo Kishi in Kishida’s council. The Finance Ministry would be handed over to Shunichi Suzuki, who would replace Taro Aso his brother in law. The cabinet would also witness several female legislators like Seiko Noda who would be heading the Ministry for Japan’s declining birthrate. The ministry of vaccine and digital sector would also be headed by women media reported.
Fumio, the scion of the Hiroshima lineage cruised past Taro Kono accessing the power of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) last week. Interacting with the reporters prior to polls on Monday, he asserted that he was ready for the top job. “I think it will be a new start in its true sense, he said.” Kishida is considered to be a soft-spoken leader, who commands support from his own faction within the LDP and is believed to abide by the government’s existing policies.
