DUBAI: Pakistan’s former military ruler and tenth President of the Muslim nation, Gen (retd) Parvez Musharraf died on Sunday in Dubai after a prolonged illness.

Musharraf 79 was suffering from Amyloidosdid, a disease caused by abnormal build-up called amyloid in organs and tissues, as per the information given by his family.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan military, said that Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad and all the services chiefs express their heartfelt condolences.

Despite being the architect of the Kargil War and straining relations to nearly a breaking point over the Kashmir dispute Gen Musharraf had a strong connection to India.

He was born in New Delhi in 1943, and was the second of three brothers and used to live at the Neharwali Haveli in Old Delhi’s Daryaganj area. Neharwali Haveli in Old Delhi’s Daryaganj area

As per reports, Musharraf was four-year-old when his family moved to the newly created state of Pakistan after the partition in 1947.  Some media reports also claim that Musharraf’s family had left the Haveli in the custody of a Jain family.
