Kyiv: Ukraine’s President in his daily address proposed swapping Pro Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, a close ally Russian president in Ukraine for Ukrainian citizens held captive by the Moscow forces. He said it was “important for our security forces and military forces to consider such a possibility”.
The war now seems to have shifted into eastern Ukraine. According to satellite imagery, the number of fighters and bombers at Lipstek-2 military airport in Russia has doubled to more than 30 aircraft since the end of March. Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday said Russia’s ‘amounted to genocide’ accusing president Putin trying to “wipe out the idea of even being a Ukrainian”. Commenting on the gas prices, US Prez said ” your family budget, your ability to fill up your tank should not hinge on whether a dictator declares war and commits genocide half a world away”. Citing the rising attacks, the Pentagon has announced sending weapons to Ukraine officials said. It added that the equipment worth $750 will be funded using the Presidential Drawdown Authority, a source that can be used in response to emergencies.
Meanwhile, in Kyivs’ Oblast 720 civilian bodies were found with around 200 still missing a local media house said. Civilians in Kramatorsk and Sloviansk were seen fleeing by bus and trains on Tuesday as fears grow the cities will be a major target for Russian offence. The mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boichenko, said the latest estimate was that around 21,000 civilian residents had been killed in the city since the start of the Russian invasion. The number of deaths in Mariupol could be as high as 22,000, Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration said. The mayor of the Ukrainian town of Bucha, near Kyiv, said authorities had so far found 403 bodies of people they believed were killed by Russian forces during their occupation of the area. That number was still growing, Anatoliy Fedoruk said, adding that it was too early for residents to return to the town.
