Washington: The US recorded a biggest high for new cases on Thursday, partly driven by spikes in California, Florida and Texas. The United States reported 39,972 fresh coronavirus cases and 2,425 deaths on Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The country’s total now stands at 24,22,299 cases and 1,24,410 deaths and remains the worst hit country in the world.
New Jersey added a large number of probable coronavirus-related deaths to its tally on Thursday, making it one of the hardest-hit states, after New York and California.
Meanwhile, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow warned that the country would have to learn to live with “hotspots” popping up around the country in places like Texas, which saw a record number of cases.
Globally, More than 9.6 million coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide, including nearly half a million deaths. Currently, India is the 4th worst hit country after US, Brazil and Russia with approximately 4.9 lakhs cases.
