Pakistan: A major report stated that violence erupted across Pakistan over demand of the expulsion of a French envoy over the publication of alleged blasphemous caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. During the clash, four policemen were killed in Pakistan. The police used tear gas and baton-charge on the demonstrators. The security forces fired bullets on the protesters.

On April 12 in Lahore, Saad Hussain Rizvi, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan Chief was arrested. After the arrest, the situation turned volatile. During the clashes, two dozen TLP activists have been killed in police firing. On Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid, Interior Minister of Pakistan announced that the Government has decided to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, whose supporters were carrying the protests across Pakistan. The Pakistan police arrested 120 people for staging the protest and resorting to violence.

From the city’s South Zone, 30 people were taken into custody, 60 from the East Zone, and 47 demonstrators were arrested from the West Zone of Karachi. TLP demanded the expulsion of the French ambassador from Pakistan over the publication of ‘blasphemous caricatures’ in the Charlie Hebdo magazine and remarks about Islam.
