India-China WTO Dispute: China has once again filed a complaint against India with the World Trade Organization (WTO). This is China’s second complaint against India in 2025. Earlier in October, China also filed a case against India regarding electric vehicle and battery subsidies.
China’s Commerce Ministry said in a statement on Friday that India is imposing higher taxes on telecom equipment and other ICT products, and that government subsidies for the solar sector are also proving detrimental to Chinese companies.
China alleges that these policies directly benefit domestic companies while making it difficult for foreign companies to compete on a level playing field. The ministry has called this unfair competition and said it violates WTO rules.
China argues that India’s current policies violate key WTO rules such as national treatment, which prohibits a country from giving its domestic companies greater advantages than foreign companies.
The Chinese ministry has urged India to honor its commitments under the WTO and expedite reforms to these policies. China has clearly indicated that it will not back down in protecting the interests of its industries.
