The Biden administration on Sunday stated that they fear another terror attack at Kabul airport in the next 24-36 hours as per their intelligence reports. In an official announcement, Biden said, “The situation on the ground continues to be extremely dangerous, and the threat of terrorist attacks on the airport remains high. Our commanders informed me that an attack is highly likely in the next 24-36 hours”.
The last attack that took place in the Kabul airport was on Thursday, Aug 26 in which almost 13 US troops and 169 Afghan nationals were killed leaving many others injured. If any such attack occurs again, the US vows to “take revenge” for every drop of blood shed by the US troop back in Taliban-occupied Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, India’s defense minister Rajnath Singh says, they are thinking of a “change in strategy” to tackle the situation in Afghanistan. “The changing equation in Afghanistan is a challenge for us… These situations have forced our country to rethink its strategy. We are changing our strategy and the formation of QUAD underlines this strategy”, said Singh.
As per the latest news from Afghanistan, the Taliban troop has sealed the Kabul airport on Saturday as the final date of evacuation nears. They have formed several layers of checkpoints to stop massive crowd gatherings in the airport and to boost security. The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had previously urged the Afghan nationals to stay back and support their government to help Afghanistan stand in glory again.
