The jet plane of Bangladesh Air Force, which is a training jet, crashed into a school building in Dhaka on Monday, killing at least one person and injuring several others, according to the military and fire services officials’ report.
The Bangladesh Air Force used the F-7 BGI type aircraft, which was in training, when it crashed onto Milestone School and College situated at Diabari of Uttara locality in Dhaka. As the jet crashed, it burst into fire, and black smoke billowed high into the sky, which could be seen quite far away.
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, gave the information that the training aircraft had crashed at the Milestone School and College at Diabari. One body has been recovered through our team. Four people who are injured have been taken away by the Air Force.” She affirmed that eight fire service units were deployed to the fire scene to contain the fire and carry out rescue missions.
Clips taken at the site revealed a huge fire, close to the lawn of the school, increasing pillars of fire and smoke spread in the air as people congregated afar in shock. It was said that there were children in the school when the incident happened, but it is yet unknown whether there are students who are victims of the incident.
Officials at the Army Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) further ascertained the downed aircraft to be part of the Air Force that was on a casual training mission.
The identity of the dead remains unknown, and more information about the injured is expected.
This is the second crash within a month when an Air India Express airliner plunged into a hostel building of a medical college in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, with a death toll of 241 passengers out of 242 that were on board and 19 on the ground.
