One of the largest fire accidents occurred late Wednesday night at oLiv Tempe, a high-rise apartment complex on 704 S. Myrtle Avenue in Tempe, Arizona. The fire started on the 16th storey of the building, but was successfully contained to one unit according to the authorities, thus it did not extend to other areas.

Assistant Chief Anthony Butch of the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department stated that the fire suppression system of the building was instrumental in containing the fire until the arrival of crews on the scene. The fire was fixed on one apartment. There were no reported injuries to individuals or pets, he said in an official statement posted to Facebook.

Although the blaze was brought down quickly, the water damage within the high-rise was massive on several levels. Consequently, some 30 inhabitants have been rendered homeless. The management of this building was helping the displaced residents to find alternative accommodation until their units are declared fit to be occupied again, authorities said.

The firefighting rescue was a shared program, and other departments assisted, including Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Guadalupe. Their crews helped to find the fire and put out the blaze, which helped to save people and limit property damage.

The Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department also reported that they are still investigating the cause of the fire with their team of fire investigators. The government has not yet revealed whether foul play or accident is suspected.

The department, in its statement, thanked all its partners in the region who helped to respond to the emergency, saying that through their combined efforts, they managed to resolve the situation quickly and safely. Although a number of residents had to be displaced, people in authority focused on the fact that no one was injured and the fire was successfully contained.
