New Delhi: Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser met the United States spymaster William Burns in New Delhi today. The meeting took place just a day after the Taliban announced the names for the new government.
The meeting is likely to include India’s concerns over the developments in Afghanistan. Mr. Doval is also meeting his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev in Delhi today. Issues relating to China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will be the prime focus at the meeting.
Pakistan’s interference in Afghanistan’s affairs remains a concern for India. Sources reveal that India criticized Pakistan for using the platform of the United Nations for hate speech for India as it continues to foment a “culture of violence” at home and across its borders.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Taliban announced an all-male caretaker government drawing names exclusively from its inner echelons. Taliban’s interior minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, is the one listed on the United States ‘terrorism list’.
