Washington: Few days ago, the Biden administration refused to release surplus Covid-19 vaccines to India, when the country is fighting the deadly pandemic. But after facing several criticism, US President Joe Biden asserted his full support to the people of India in this worst time. He said that India had helped the people of America in their hour of need and now the US will support providing emergency assistance to India in the fight against Covid-19.
Joe Biden further added that the US will help India with oxygen supplies, raw materials for Covid-19 vaccines and critical life-saving drugs to PPEs. After his phone call with PM Narendra Modi, Biden said in a tweet, “India was there for us, and we will be there for them. Today, I spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pledged America’s full support to provide emergency assistance and resources in the fight against Covid-19”.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a major report, “The President pledged America’s steadfast ongoing support for the people of India, who have been impacted by the recent surge in the Covid-19 cases”. The US is also pursuing options to provide oxygen generation systems. She further added, “As requested by India, we will provide raw materials for the production of AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine at Serum Institute of India”.
