Afghanistan: Twin bomb explosions outside the Kabul Airport on Thursday, ripped through the crowds shredding several into ashes. Scores of people died including Afghan civilians, other foreigners. According to US reporters,13 US service members died while 18 injured were being prioritized as aeromedical evacuees. As per Afghan officials, nearly 90 nationals were killed and more than 150 were wounded in the attack.

In a statement on Thursday, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby confirmed the explosion and speculated it as an attack by ISIS. As per sources, one explosion was a suicide bombing near the closed Abbey gate where British Troops had been stationed while the second was an explosion close to the Baron Hotel.

President Biden in a press conference on Thursday vowed to retaliate for the terrorist attack. He said,” We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay.” He also pledged to continue evacuations from the war-torn land. As per the CENTCOM commander, the US evacuated nearly 5,000 Americans so far with only 1,000 awaiting evacuation.

Before the attack, a number of countries including Germany, the Netherlands and Canada had called off their evacuations, while Turkey had also informed to withdraw its troops from the airport.
