On Monday, Afghanistan accused Pakistan of launching a devastating airstrike on a drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul, saying that the attack had taken the lives of at least 400 people and wounded up to 250 others. The reported time of the strike was 9 pm local time, killing large parts of the 2,000-bed facility as per the Afghan officials. The incident has been recorded as a great escalation of the tension between the two neighbouring states which has been escalating lately in the last three weeks.
The airstriking followed the reports of cross fire across the borders between the Afghan and Pakistani forces, which led to the death of at least four people in Afghanistan. The current conflicts are already being termed as the bloodiest between the two parties in present years.
Allegations have however been vehemently denied by Pakistan. The officials of its information ministry called the allegations false and misleading, and that the attacks were selective of militant infrastructure, and terrorist support assets in Kabul and Nangarhar. They gave special focus on the point that they did not strike any civilian targets such as hospitals in the operation.
On the other hand, the attack has been condemned by the Afghan authorities, and they have alleged that Pakistan was targeting civilian infrastructure. The mixed accounts have also increased the tension further and raised an issue of a wider conflict between regions and its humanitarian impacts.
