Kyiv: At least 39 died and 100 were injured in a Russian rocket attack launch in Eastern Ukraine as civilians tried to evacuate to safer parts on Friday. Two Russian rockets have struck a railway station in Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine, causing casualties, Ukraine’s state railway company said. The station is used to evacuate civilians from areas under bombardment from Russian forces. “Two rockets hit Kramatorsk railway station. There are casualties,” Ukrainian Railways said in a statement.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky described this attack as an ‘evil with no limits’ after the rocket attack. ” They are cynically destroying the civilian population. This is an evil that has no limits. And if it is not punished, it will never stop.”
Meanwhile, in the capital city Kyiv, names of the dead sprawled on the peeling wall of a school basement where residents say more than 300 people were trapped for weeks by Russian occupiers in Yahidne, a village.
The “new mayor” of Mariupol, put in place by pro-Russian forces, announced that around 5,000 civilians have died in the besieged southeastern Ukrainian city. Lviv’s population reportedly shrunk from 400,000 before the conflict to around 120,000 today.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Ivankiv Maryna Beschastna broke down during an interview claiming that two girls aged 15 and 16 were reportedly raped by Russian soldiers. stating the plight of the girl, she added that the girls and women in a village were cutting their hair short so that they looked less attractive and could avoid rape.
Since the inception of the attack, the WHO has claimed sabotage of 100 health care facilities in Ukraine as it called for humanitarian access to the besieged city of Mariupol.
“As of now, WHO has verified 103 incidents of attacks on health care, with 73 people killed and 51 injured, including health workers and patients,” WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a press conference, calling it a “grim milestone.
Of the confirmed attacks 89 had impacted health facilities and most of the rest hit transport services, including ambulances.
