Phnom Penh, Cambodia: The Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has reached Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh to attend the 19th ASEAN-India Summit. He held a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh after reaching Phnom Penh. Dhankar will also inaugurate the ‘Hall of Dancers’ at Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia. It has been renovated recently.
The 19th ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit was organized on Saturday. In a joint statement issued by both sides, it was announced that they will work together in sectors of crime, terrorism, security, and other areas to strengthen ties.
The joint statement on the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership issued after the India-ASEAN summit said that terrorism and international crimes including money laundering, cybercrime, drugs, human trafficking, arms trafficking, etc. will be dealt with strongly. Along with this, it was also announced to maintain peace, stability, maritime safety and security, freedom of navigation and overflight, and to promote a peaceful settlement of disputes in the Indo-Pacific region.
The 19th ASEAN-India Summit was organized to mark the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-India Dialogue Partnership. It is a memorial summit. The Vice President will also hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia and other officials of the host country.
Notably, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had reached Cambodia on Friday. He is scheduled to inaugurate the recently renovated ‘Hall of Dancers’ at the famous Ta Prohm Temple, located inside Cambodia’s Angkor Heritage Park. It is located in the cultural and tourism province of Siem Reap. It was featured in actress Angelina Jolie’s film ‘Tomb Raider’.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has recently completed the restoration work of the huge and famous Buddhist monastery of Ta Prohm. It is believed that this summit will impact the overall development of the ASEAN countries along with India.
