Karachi: At least 18 people including 8 children were killed when a passenger bus in Pakistan’s Jamshoro district caught fire due to a malfunctioning of the air conditioning system. The Pakistan Police also confirmed that 28 other are injured in the bus fire.
The incident took place when the bus reached the district’s Nooriabad area. The initial investigation revealed that the fire erupted due to the vehicle’s malfunctioning air conditioning as a passenger bus was on its way from Karachi to the Khairpur Nathan Shah area of Dadu district.
Pakistan has been hit by unprecedented monsoon floods this year, putting the nation underwater. The floods devastated $28 billion in property and displaced 8 million people. As the water slowly recedes, thousands of displaced are traveling back to make a living. The fire broke out when the victims were going back to their village. Police, rescue teams, and firefighters rushed to the site and doused the fire. The victims were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital in Jamshoro.
