Pakistan Blast: Pakistan has once again been shaken by a massive explosion. 14 people died in a massive explosion in Quetta, Balochistan. While 35 people were seriously injured. The blast took place soon after the conclusion of an event organized to commemorate the fourth death anniversary of Sardar Ataullah Mengal near Shahwani Stadium. The explosion was targeted at a rally of the Balochistan National Party (BNP).

The Chief Minister of Balochistan has condemned the attack and ordered an investigation. Balochistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar has given the number of dead and injured.

According to police, initial information suggests that the target of the attack was BNP leader Akhtar Mengal and his convoy. However, Mengal remained safe in the attack. Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and emergency services rushed the injured to nearby hospitals. The condition of many injured is said to be critical.

BNP spokesman Sajid Tareen told the media that 13 party members were killed in the blast that occurred shortly after Akhtar Mengal’s convoy passed the scene. “As soon as Akhtar Mengal’s vehicle passed the scene, a loud explosion occurred,” Tareen said, according to The Express Tribune. Officials are still investigating the blast.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and called it a cowardly act of the enemies of peace. He said that the purpose of such violence is to spoil the atmosphere of the area and spread fear. Bugti has also ordered high-quality medical help for the injured and an investigation into the matter. He also urged law enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits of the attack as soon as possible. A special committee has been formed to investigate the incident and submit a report. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Quetta.
