Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind, on January 23 (Saturday) took to their respective Twitter handles to pay tribute to one of the greatest heroes of the freedom for the Indians against the British rulers, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. January 23, 2021 marks his 125th birth anniversary.

President Kovind, through 2 back-to-back 2 tweets on his Twitter handle, mentioned that the Azad Hind Fauj leader was one of the ‘most beloved national heroes’ of the nation, making an unforgettable contribution towards the freedom struggle to make our nation free from the tight fists of the British rulers.

“Tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as the nation commences his 125th birth anniversary celebrations. It is befitting to celebrate this day as ‘Parakram Diwas’ to honor his boundless courage & valour. Netaji instilled the fervour of nationalism among his countless followers”, wrote Kovind in his first tweet.

In his next tweet, the President wrote – “Netaji is one of our most beloved national heroes who made extraordinary contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Netaji’s patriotism and sacrifice shall always inspire us. We are committed to strengthening the spirit of freedom so strongly espoused by him”.

PM Modi, in his tweet on the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter, wrote in Hindi – “Tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a great freedom fighter and true son of Mother India, on his birth anniversary. The nation will always remember his sacrifice and dedication for the independence of the country. #ParakramDivas”.

Notably, the Government of India has decided to celebrate January 23 as ‘Parakram Divas’ every year, in order to inspire the Indians to act courageously against unfavorable situations, following the footsteps of Netaji. PM Modi, on Saturday, visits Kolkata’s Netaji Bhawan at Elgin Road, to preside over the ‘Parakram Divas’ inaugural function.
