Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: A group of eight children and two adults were stranded on a chairlift suspended over 1,200 feet above the mountainous terrain of Pakistan’s northwest on Tuesday. The incident occurred when students were on a routine trip to school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The children and adults were on a school trip to the Malam Jabba ski resort when the cable of the chairlift snapped. They were left hanging in the air, with no way to get down.

Rescue workers were dispatched to the scene, but they were hampered by the difficult terrain and the high winds. They were eventually able to reach the stranded group and bring them to safety.

The children and adults were shaken but unharmed. They were taken to a nearby hospital for a check-up. Tanveer Ur Rehman, a Battagram district representative emphasised on rescue efforts. He underscored the complexity of the operation and told the need for a helicopter to conduct rescue operation successfully.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of chairlifts in Pakistan. There have been several accidents involving chairlifts in the country in recent years.

The government has promised to investigate the incident and take steps to improve safety measures at chairlifts.
