Virat Kohli announces test retirement, Signaling end of an Era

Virat Kohli announced his retirement from test cricket on May 12, bringing an end to a amazing 14 year career in the longest format, spanning from 2011-2025.

The 36-year-old made the announcement ahead of India's five match Test series against England, which begins on June 20.

He shared the news through an emotional statement on his Instagram account.

Kohli retires as India's fourth-highest run scorer in Test Cricket, behind only Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar.

On Saturday, 10 May, Kohli informed the BCCI of his decision to retire. Although officials urged him to reconsider, he remained firm in his choice.

His announcement comes shortly after Rohit Sharma also retired from Test cricket on May 7.
