Rohit Sharma's Test retirement marks the end of a celebrated chapter in his international career
Rohit Sharma, on 7 May, announced his retirement from Test Cricket. The 38 year old batter took to instagram on Wednesday to share the news.
He expressed gratitude to fans and reflected on his journey in the longest format of the game.
Rohit acknowledged that stepping away from Test Cricket is not an easy decision, adding that the decision to retire is deeply personal.
He made his Test debut against the West Indies in November 2013, and went on to represent India in 67 tests.
He amassed 4301 runs at an average of 40.57, with 12 centuries and 18 fifties
He finishes as India's 16th highest run getter in the longest format.
Following the announcement, tributes have poured in from across the cricketing world. Among them was former Indian Cricketer and 1983 World Cup Winner Madan Lal.
He also praised veteran opener for his unique batting artisty and leadership qualities.
