The Indian army, Navy and the Air force carried out precision strikes at 1:44 am on 7 May, on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam Attack in which 26 civilians were killed on April 22.
Nine sites were targeted in the strikes under the codename 'Operation Sindoor'- an ode to the women who lost their husbands in the Pahalgam attack.
The operation aimed to dismantle key logistical, operational and training infrastructure used by LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen and other affiliated networks.
Key sites targeted included Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahalwalpur, Sarjal in Tehra Kalan, Markaz Abbas in Kotli and Syedna Bilal camp in Muzaffarabad
The actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.
In retaliation, Pakistan initiated cross-border firing and artillery shelling on Indian villages along the Line of Control (LoC).
Over the past 12 days, Pakistan has repeatedly violated the ceasefire, prompting measured responses from India.
Seven death have been reported and 38 others injured in the exchange along the LoC.
Amid rising tensions, several flights have been affected. IndiGo and Air India have cancelled all services to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until noon.
