IPL 2025 set to resume; Franchise to recall overseas players

The BCCI is planning to resume the IPL as soon as possible after the announcement of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan on Saturday, 10 May.

The tournament was suspended last week, a day after the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharmshala was abandoned midway due to raid alerts.

Most overseas players have already returned to their respective countries, and the BCCI has told the franchise to resemble their teams at their home venues by Tuesday, 13 May.

The revised schedule is expected to be released on Monday, 12 May, following the BCCI’s meeting with stakeholders.

The tournament is likely to resume on 16 or 17 May, with the final scheduled five days later.

It is unlikely for cities like Dharmshala, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai to host the remaining matches.

Currently, Gujrat Titans lead the points table with 16 points with Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.793. They are closely followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who also have 16 points but a lower NRR of 0.482

A total of 12 League stage matches and four play-off stage matches are yet to be played in the tournament.
