Encounter breaks out in Awantipora within 48 hours, 3 terrorist killed

Three terrorists have been killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora.

The terrorists were killed in a fierce gunbattle which started early morning on 15 May, after Police and army launched a joint operation.

The encounter started in the Nader and Tral area of Awantipora, which is a sub-district of Pulwama in South Kashmir. This is the second encounter in 48 hours.

The three terrorists were hiding in a residential house and couldn't resist much in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian.

On 13 May, a special intelligence input of a Rashtriyas Rifles Unit, about the presence of terrorists in general area Shoekal Keller, Shopian, Indian army launched a search and destroy Operation.

During the operation, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce fireflight ensued, which resulted in elimination of three terrorists.

Several operations are being carried out in J&K on a regular basis, particularly after the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
