President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for tariffs on China by 90 days. A White House official confirmed that Trump signed an executive order to this effect. This decision was made shortly after he had avoided answering reporters’ questions about whether he would extend the August 12 deadline.

“I have just signed an Executive Order that will extend the Tariff Suspension on China for another 90 days,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Just hours before the trade truce between Washington and Beijing was set to end, the US President praised China’s cooperation on this occasion and said, “We will see what happens. This indicates that talks between Washington and Beijing are still going on and both sides are looking for a permanent solution.

Trade tension between the US and China has been in the headlines since 2018. In April this year, US President Donald Trump increased the tariff on Chinese goods by 145%. In response, China imposed a 125% duty on US imports. This became a situation in which the economies and global supply chains of both countries came under pressure. After the talks held in Geneva and the meetings held in London in June, both sides agreed to temporarily reduce the tariff.
