Tirupati Laddus Row: A massive political row erupted in Andhra Pradesh after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu claimed that animal fat was used in Tirupati temple laddus during the previous YSRCP government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. While YSRCP accused Chandrababu Naidu of indulging in “heinous allegations” and TDP circulated the lab report to back the claim.
Amid the controversy, the ruling Telugu Desam Party on Thursday claimed that a Gujarat-based livestock laboratory has confirmed the adulteration. TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy at a press conference displayed the purported lab report which apparently confirmed the presence of “beef tallow” in the given ghee sample,
In a shocking revelation, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday accused the previous YSRCP government of using animal fat in making the Tirupati laddu. The party has, however, rejected the claim. The Tirupati laddu is distributed at the revered Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, which is run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
After the allegations of N Chandrababu Naidu, Andra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh also targeted the Jagan Mohan Reddy government over the Tirupati laddu row.
Meanwhile, YSRCP termed Naidu’s allegation as “malicious” and said that the TDP supremo would “stoop to any level for political gain”. YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha member Subba Reddy alleged that Naidu had severely damaged the sanctity of the holy Tirumala and the faith of crores of Hindus with his comments.
“The Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at Tirumala is our most sacred temple. I am shocked to learn that the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy administration used animal fat instead of ghee in the Tirupati Prasadam,” he said.
