Raipur: As the country suffers from the fear of the deadly coronavirus, some states are facing a massive comeback of the virus in terms of a second wave. It is evident that without the invention of a vaccine and the withdrawal of the lockdown has indeed made it easy for the virus to make a powerful resurgency. But the way it has affected people till now, it is evident that we need strict measures again to stop it from affecting more.

However, According to the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, COVID-19 situation is under control in Chhattisgarh. Every day almost 23,000 screening tests are being done. There were no cases of COVID infection in rural areas earlier, but later a few cases were reported, he informed in the review meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi in the wake of second wave of Coronavirus cases.

Baghel further added that “Mitanins(a term for female health workers) have done commendable work for prevention of COVID-19 infection. The number of beds with oxygen facility and ICU beds has been increased. All the medical colleges in the state have RTPCR facility. Four new labs have been established for testing.”

“From October month, the number of new cases has gradually declined. The number of COVID cases has decreased by 50%, but there is no reduction in the number of tests being conducted.” Baghel informed in the meeting.

He added that “in the month of July there were 4 % positive cases in the state, 8 % in August, 15 % in September, 10.5 % in October, and 7 % in November. Death rate was 1% in October-November, 2020.”

Chief Minister said in the virtual conference that “initially there were very few cases of corona in Chhattisgarh, but as people from other states began to come, the number of cases significantly increased.”

He added that oxygen plots would be set up in medical colleges.

Meanwhile, As per the health minister of Chhattisgarh T.S. Singh Deo, to curb the infected virus, it is essential to locate such areas from where a large number of people are being affected by corona.

Talking to Media about the speculation of Lockdown in Chhattisgarh, Singh Deo said “there is no talk for lockdown. but it is safe to say if there’s a need for containing the virus in any particular area, we will implement containment zone for that area.”

“The infected areas must be included under the containment zone to prevent the spread to the surrounding areas. These zones must be sanitized well and people should not be allowed to go in or go out of these zones till they are corona free.”
