Rajnikanth never fails to take his fans by surprise. With the poster of his upcoming film ‘Dharman’ initially titled ‘Thalaivar 173′ released by the makers internet is keenly looking forward to any updates on the superstars’ next release. Returning to the big screen after a long time Rajnikanth will be seen playing a doctor inspired from real-life philanthropic medical professionals, but with a major narrative twist.
In the poster that went viral on Wednesday, Rajnikanth is seen in a never before avatar wearing blue surgical attire, complete with the salt and pepper hair look. Dressed in sunglasses, he smiles in the poster, standing within an operation theater with a bloodied surgical tool in his hand. A body lies at his feet, with pieces of broken glass and other medical equipment completing the intense picture.
The title itself has increased the excitement surrounding the film. Fans are also speculating about the plot, Rajinikanth’s character in the movie, and the importance of the “தர்மமே வெல்லும்!” (Righteousness alone will triumph) tagline.
The cast also features Simran and Raashi Khanna in key roles. Music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and cinematography is given to Niketh Bommi, while editing will be handled by Pradeep E Ragav. And action sequences are being designed by stunt duo Anbariv.
Dharman has seen directorial changes since it was first announced in 2025. Sundar C was initially attached to the project but stepped away citing “unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances.” Cibi Chakravarthy then came on board and worked through pre-production before also departing. Ashwath Marimuthu, known for Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, is now directing the film.
