New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors in nine Indian states and a new Lieutenant Governor for Puducherry. Former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, Haribabu Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan and former Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana.
Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Similarly, Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge as Governor of Manipur.
Similarly, former Rajya Sabha MP Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as the new Governor of Sikkim while Union Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand. Former Lok Sabha MP from Assam Ramen Deka has been appointed Chhattisgarh’s governor.
New appointments also saw former Karnataka Minister CH Vijaayashankar as the Governor of Meghalaya, CP Rashakrishnan as the Governor of Maharashtra. Former IAS officer K Kailashnathan has been appointed Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Earlier on July 25, President Murmu completed two years in office. The President has used social media platforms like X, FaceBook, YouTube, and Instagram to connect with the citizens. Over 206 million impressions with 3.5 million new followers on X.
