KATRA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack, terming it an attack on “insaniyat” (humanity) and “Kashmiriyat” (the spirit of Kashmir). Speaking at an event in Katra after flagging off the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express service, the Prime Minister explicitly stated that the incident was aimed at triggering riots across India.
“Pakistan attacked both humanity and the spirit of Kashmir in Pahalgam,” Modi asserted, directly implicating the neighboring nation in the nefarious act. He further elaborated on the alleged intent behind the attack, stating, “Its intent was to incite riots in India and to disrupt the livelihood of the hardworking people of Kashmir. That is why Pakistan targeted the tourists.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks come in the wake of the Pahalgam incident, which has drawn widespread condemnation. While details of the incident itself were not elaborated in the statement, the focus of PM Modi’s address was clearly on its broader implications and alleged Pakistani involvement. By framing the attack as an assault on the core values of both humanity and Kashmir’s unique cultural ethos, Modi sought to highlight the malicious nature of the act.
The accusation of Pakistan’s intent to incite riots across India underscores the gravity with which the government views such incidents. The emphasis on disrupting the livelihood of Kashmiris also draws attention to the economic impact of such security breaches, particularly on the vital tourism sector. The Prime Minister’s firm condemnation sends a strong message regarding India’s stance on cross-border terrorism and its alleged attempts to destabilize the region.
