Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over five new cases of alleged malpractices in the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The agency had already taken over Gujarat and Bihar on Sunday, and now it has taken cases in Maharashtra and Rajasthan too. Officials at CBI said the agency has re-registered one case each from Gujarat, Bihar Maharashtra, and three from Rajasthan. CBI is now probing six cases of alleged irregularities in NEET-UG. Maharashtra police have also arrested two Zilla Parishad school teachers from Latur.
Meanwhile, the new NTA DG Pradeep Singh Kharola met with agency officials on Monday. The seven-member panel set up by the Education Ministry also conducted a meeting on Monday evening to review the current processes and functioning of NTA. On the other hand, 813 students took the NEET UG 2024 re-exam on June 23 and are now awaiting their results which will likely be released on June 30.
Earlier on Saturday, the Union Health Ministry postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 examination slated for June 23, as a ‘precautionary measure.’ The examination is conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE). Amid the ongoing outrage against the latest development, several students shared their disappointment on social media.
In a video shared online, a NEET PG candidate Sunanda Pansari slams the government for not thinking about students before taking such a decision. “This is extremely wrong. I have travelled 600 km to attend the exam. The exam was scheduled for March after which it for postponed to July. Later they postponed their exam and now they have postponed the exam again. We should have been informed at least 24 hours before. There is no information on the paper leak as of now,” she said in the video.
