GUJARAT: In a shocking incident, a couple allegedly killed themselves by severing their heads in Vinchhiya Village in Gujarat’s Rajkot district. According to sources, the beheading was done as an act of sacrifice ritual. A note that was discovered on the spot mentioned the act was carried out in the name of superstitious rituals. According to police officials the ritual was perfomed between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Heumbhai Makwana and his wife Hansaben had reportedly curated a device that could detach their heads from their bodies automatically. According to Sub inspector Jadeja of Vinchhiyca PS who was involved in the probe said that the couple executed the plan n such a manner that their heads rolled into the fire altar after being severed.
It is also said that the couple first prepared a fire altar before putting their heads into the guillotine-like mechanism held by a rope. “The iron blades struck their neck as soon as the rope was released which rolled their heads into the altar, said Jadeja.”
In the suicide note discovered by the police, the deceased duo urged their relatives to look after their kids and parents. The couple is survived by two kids. As per statements by relatives, the duo had been performing veneration in the hut every day since last year.
A case of accidental death has been registered, and the bodies will be handed over to the kin following the postmortem.
