BHOPAL: The ED unit of Bhopal in a major step in the money laundering case against Jabalpur Bishop PC Singh — moderator of Church of North India and his family has registered a case under various sections of the PMLA taking cognizance of an EOW FIR.
The FIR filed by EOW has named Singh and his sons based on a probe the federal agency launched on receiving information of alleged irregularities. The raid at the accused Bishops’ residence unearthed Rs 2 crores in Indian and foreign currency.
The Bishop was denied bail by the MP HC on Tuesday after government advocates argued that he was an influential person being a Moderator and Bishop having control over the institutions and may influence the witnesses.
Singh is under custody since September 12th in connection with crime No 80/2022 lodged at Police station, EOW and Jabalpur (MP) for the offenses punishable under Sections 406, 420, 468, 471, and 120-B of IPC and Section 7(c) of Prevention of Corruption Act.
An FIR was filed by a CGbased activist in which he claimed the Jabalpur bishop PC Singh — moderator of Church of North India (CNI) in India had leased out a prime property of CNI to Bhati in 2016. Allegations also mentioned that the Bishop in connivance with the Assistant Registrar, Firms and Societies, and others, changed the name of Nagpur Diocesan Board of Education without the consent of Nagpur Board prepared a forged certificate on the same registration No 8 dated July 11, 1959, and appointed himself as Chairman of the society.
