UP: Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party Senior Politician Ram Govind Chaudhary has tested positive for coronavirus.
Chaudhary was suffering from fever, cough and cold and was admitted to a private hospital in lucknow on Monday where his sample was taken for a test. After the result showed him Covid19 positive, he was shifted to the Sanjay Gandhi PostGraduate Institute of Medical Science (SGPGIMS) on Tuesday.
Chaudhary (67) is the second SP leader to test coronavirus positive. Former MP Dharmendra Yadav had tested corona positive earlier this month and he has fully recovered now.
Yogesh Raghuvashi (CMO) said that “we are tracing the areas where Chaudhary has visited and people who came in contact with him as a source of infection. His family members have been asked to self home quarantine and will be tested later.”
Uttar Pradesh has a total of 18,893 Covid-19 cases, of which, 588 people have succumbed to the virus.
