An important reminder has been issued to parents regarding the proper submission of data by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for student registration and the List of Candidates (LOC) for the upcoming board examinations. The CBSE circular emphasizes that this notification applies to class 9 and 11 students for registration and class 10 and 12 students for submission of LOC. Mistakes made during this process can prove to be a big problem for students and their schools in the future.
IMPORTANCE OF ACCURATE DATA
The CBSE brought to light the fact that many parents have been providing false information, including names, dates of birth, and subjects. Requests to correct this data are no longer accepted once the registration and LoC procedures are finished, especially after results have been declared.
“It has been observed that during registration and submission of LOC, parents are submitting incorrect information, and after the result is declared, they are making requests to correct the data,” the circular noted.
In order to prevent these issues, CBSE has outlined specific steps for parents:
. Make sure your child’s name, birthdate, and parents’ names are accurate and written in their full form. Avoid using short names.
. As many countries require surnames on official documents, surnames are especially important if your child intends to travel abroad in the future.
Verify the date of birth twice, and if possible, cross-check it with any existing passport.
Additionally, parents were reminded by CBSE to carefully choose the subjects for students in Classes 10 and 12. It was stressed by the board that “no change will be accepted after LOC submission”.
Deadlines for CBSE Registration and Loc
Students of classes 9 and 11 will have to register on the official website of CBSE by 16 October 2024. The late registration window with additional fees runs till October 24, 2024. The last date to submit LOC for class 10 and 12 students without a late fee is October 4, 2024, and with a late fee, applications can be made till October 15, 2024.
