Amritsar: Amritsar Rural Police and Border Security Force have arrested 2 international smugglers during a joint operation. A big network smuggling heroin in the border area has been busted. Heroin was not recovered from their possession, but crores of rupees worth of heroin sold has been recovered.
The SP Headquarters of Amritsar Rural and Border Security Force officials said that they had received information that Balwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, who live in village Kakkar near the border, are involved in smuggling. They are connected with Pakistani smugglers and after selling heroin, they send money to Pakistani smugglers through hawala.
Based on this information, the police took action with the Border Security Force and arrested Balwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh. During interrogation, both the smugglers told that they import heroin from Pakistan and have already sold a large consignment of heroin. The money from the sold heroin is present in their house. When the police investigated, a total amount of Rs 1 crore 97 lakh 14 thousand 650 was recovered. Apart from this, 5 mobiles and 1 laptop were recovered from the smugglers.
The mobile data has revealed how the two smugglers were in contact with smugglers sitting in Pakistan. The accused’s luxurious bungalows and property worth crores of rupees have also come to light. A case has been registered in Lopoke police station. The process of freezing the property has been started. Balwinder Singh’s two sons are already in jail for heroin smuggling.
