America: The founder and CEO of the Meta group that owns popular social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday announced plans to roll out big features on its WhatsApp platform. He took to his Facebook to share a video where he shared information on the upcoming features of the popular social media platform. He has called it a “major evolution of WhatsApp” and announced several interesting features.
In the video, he said, “We`re launching Communities on WhatsApp. It makes groups better by enabling sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels, and more. All secured by end-to-end encryption so your messages stay private.” These features are expected to roll out on November 3.
The latest features also include better group video calling and users will also be able to hide their active status in the app. Another highlight of the update is that the users can now add 1024 members to a group that allowed only 256 members initially and then 512 from earlier this year.
Not only that, 32 members can be allowed in video calls too. The users can also create in-chat polls that will benefit marketers at large. The Meta CEO said that these features have already been rolled out for the beta users but it might take some time to be effective on all global users.
Mark Zuckerberg also hinted at India’s new marketing feature that rolled out on WhatsApp. He said, “We launched JioMart on WhatsApp in India, and it was our first end-to-end shopping experience that showed the potential for chat-based commerce through messaging.”
