RRR created history at the 80th Golden Globes 2023 by winning the Best Original Song for NAATU NAATU. The song composed by MM Keeravaani becomes the first Indian song to win the prestigious award. It, however, missed out on the Non-English Language Fil which was bagged by Argentine,1985 from Argentina.

Taking to Twitter, Rajamouli thanked music composer MM Keeravani for giving him this iconic song. Then he thanked the fans across the globe for dancing to the tunes of it and making Naatu Naatu a rage. Rajamouli also stated that this win certifies the fact that ‘music knows no boundaries.’ He tweeted, “SPEECHLESS. Music truly knows no boundaries. Congratulations & thank you PEDDANNA for giving me #NaatuNaatu. This one is special. I thank each & every fan across the globe for shaking their leg & making it popular ever since the release. #GoldenGlobes.” 

NTR Jr took to Twitter to congratulate the veteran composer. “Congratulations Sirji on your well-deserved #GoldenGlobes award! I’ve danced to many songs throughout my career but #NaatuNaatu will forever stay close to my heart… @mmkeeravaani.”

Renowned celebrities from the entertainment also took to social media to congratulate the ‘RRR’ team. Music maestro A.R Rahman couldn’t reign in his enthusiasm as he tweeted, “Incredible ..Paradigm shift Congrats Keeravani Garu from all Indians and your fans! Congrats @ssrajamouli Garu and the whole RRR team!”

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi Konidela also dedicated a hearty congratulation to the ‘RRR’ cast and crew. ” “What a Phenomenal, Historic Achievement !!!! Golden Globes Best Original Song – Motion Picture Award to @mmkeeravaani garu !! Take a Bow! Heartiest Congratulations Team @RRRMovie & @ssrajamouli !! India is proud of you! #NaatuNaatu,” he wrote on Twitter.

RRR was represented by its director and stars SS Rajamouli, Jr NTR, and am Charam who was accompanied by his wife Upasna Kamineni. Creating a global phenomenon, the movie has submitted itself for the Oscars as well and it is expected to be nominated for at least one category.

Set in 1920’s British occupied India, RRR tells the fictional tale of Indian freedom fighters Komuram Bheem and Aluri Sitarama Raju who fought against Britishers. Along with the two male leads, the period action drama boasts an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran and Hollywood artists Ray Stevenson, Alision Doody and Olivia Morris.
